Data Representations releases Simplicity for Palm OS Version 3.1.
Summit, New Jersey, September 23, 2004-
Data Representations has upgraded Simplicity for Palm OS to Version 3.1 which includes greater
support for TREO 600 and palmOne's new JVM. These new changes are designed to help
mobile designers create and test J2ME MID Profile applications using the latest in interactive
technology.
This Upgrade Includes:
- palmOne's Toolkit which contains the latest WME JVM from IBM.
- This new JVM increases MIDlet productivity by quick starts and smoother operations.
- Adding complete support for the Treo 600, Tungsten and Zire devices running the latest Palm OS.
- The addition of Simplicity's TREO 600 emulator to a long list of other Simplicity for Palm emulators, which all provide a visual representation that emulates the actual device and how it performs without the need to save, compile and deploy.
- The abilitity to switch from device to device to see how the application will look on other palmOne devices or generic MIDP phone
- Simplicity For Palm OS' Emulator has been updated to reflect the changes in IBM's new JVM for the Palm.
- Command Displayables can be on one of 3 menus.
- Command Displayables will be positioned to coincide with the VM.
- Simplicity for Palm OS Application Packager now persists settings for each individual class, based on a .set file which corresponds with each .class file.
All generated code is pure Java, based on CLDC/MIDP APIs.
There are no required third party APIs or dependencies.
All created applications are royalty free.
Integrates easily with existing classes or third party libraries.
Uses any J2ME Java classes on your classpath including jar and zip files
Uses JDK 1.3 or later

Simplicity's Execution-On-The-Fly technology integrates every change to the application's code instantly into the running application. There is no need to recompile the application with every change. The application continues to run in the emulator, and each change occurs instantly. So even before compiling, a developer will know if what they designed is correct. This is a great time-saver for developers of all levels. Other features include the Sourcerer's Apprentice, which is a code completion tool, and The Code Sourcerer, which is an automatic coding tool that can create large blocks of code by interviewing the user in plain English. These tools eliminate many possible errors, providing a guide to all possibilities.
Simplicity Version 3.1 for Palm OS can be extended to build end-to-end, network-aware mobile/enterprise applications when added to Data Representations' J2EE/J2ME tool, Simplicity for Mobile Servers. Using XML over HTTP, Simplicity for Mobile Servers makes it easy to collect data from JDBC data sources and legacy applications for building interactive, MIDlet to servlet, wireless applications.
