Creating a Client and a Server

You must have a Simplicity for Mobile Servers license to complete this tutorial.

This tutorial will guide you through creating a client-side application using the MID Profile which will get information from a servlet. By completing this tutorial you will learn about

• Connecting to a Servlet using the Transaction engine
• Displaying results in a MIDlet
• Using caching to enhance MIDlets

It is estimated that this tutorial should take most people 90 minutes to complete. It is assumed you have already finished the first tutorial of Simplicity for Mobile Devices, as well as the first tutorial of Simplicity for Mobile Servers. You should be familiar with using both Simplicity for Mobile Devices and Simplicity for Mobile Servers.

Developing a Client and Server

If you haven't already done so, start Simplicity for Mobile Devices in the manner appropriate for your operating system. The Simplicity IDE should be on the screen.
