Packaging your application
First you will build a Jar file and a PRC file with all of the files which are needed for your application.
- In the Project Tree, make sure that 'Java Class Files' is selected.
- Right-click on TextBrowser.class to bring up the pop-up menu. Choose 'Build Jar...', located at the bottom of the list.
This will bring up the Application Packager dialog. For this tutorial, the default settings are fine. Press the 'Build' button at the bottom of the dialog.
Simplicity will now create a Jar file, a jad file, and a PRC file based on the class file you started with. PRC files are displayed in the 'Prc Files' group of the IDE. If you have set up your program settings correctly (page 56), you can double-click a PRC file from within Simplicity and it will be installed on your Palm OS Platform based handheld computer the next time you synchronize your device.
As a default, the PRC file is created for IBM's WebSphere Micro Environment on Tungsten devices. You may choose to create a PRC for an earlier version of WME which runs on Palm OS 3.5 and 4.0 devices.
Before you run a Java program on your Palm OS Platform based handheld computer for the first time, you may also need to install the proper version of the WME virtual machine. The needed PRC files can be found in the lib directory of Simplicity for Palm OS Platform's install directory.
Congratulations! You have completed this tutorial and learned many of the basics of working with Simplicity for Palm OS Platform.
